Sweetpea, the cutest doll.

Argh isn't she adorable! I love her from her awesome blue hair, thick eyelashes, sparkly purple eyes and stripy tights. CUTE!

 

Just like my red haired doll her hair is done with my new way of doing hair, super secure and fully playable.

KID SAFE. That's important.

Hand painted face, non-toxic paint. Button eyes that could be swapped out for painted black pupils for small object conscious parents. I personally wouldn't worry about it. They are very stuck but I fully understand if it was a issue!

More Bibs.

Anyone who looks at my crafts, well my anything is life really, will know I like skulls. Everything is better with a skull on it. Babies also fit into this don't they?

 

Here's a few bibs that I have hand printed, with a stencil that I made years ago, still going strong. Many children I know have worn this skull.

I don't think that only boys wear skulls, so the top two are my girly ones, pink top stitching and girly pink and purple backings.

The others are pretty much unisex if you don't mind having your girl called a boy (I never worried about that, haha)

I love the spider one, this is a new stencil with the red back hand painted on.

All of these bibs are designed for dribblers. They sit high on the neck, bunched up, so bubbys neck doesn't get wet like with a 'normal' bib. They have water proof backings, the kind of material of re-usable nappies and a thicker soaking material on the front. Super cool for all the awesome babies out there!

 

NEW DOLL!!

Finally I have finished my dolls I have been working on. Yay =)

 

This is the second time I have used this hair technique. I'm definitely sticking to it, it works out so nicely and she has SO much hair. I love it. And it's so sturdy, will definitely withstand kids playing with it. All of my dolls are playing dolls. None of these ''art" ones.

This particular one is quite up-cycled. Starting with the maroon wool in her hair, button eyes, Chinese silk singlet and knickers AND her filler too. As I have said I like to reuse things and I have real trouble throwing anything out, my house is very full....

 

Her little waistcoat has hand top stitching and is so super cute. And the lace frill on her skirt is pretty too innit?

 

Hand painted face, with non-toxic paints. Buttons are very secure but could very easily be replaced for a button/small object conscious parent.

This bag was a custom order, from a friend who likes owls even more than me!! haha.
The owl is made from sweat shirting, fleece and felt. The bag has several pockets and is made from a well wearing cotton drill

Record bowls.

I love making use of old rubbishy things. Lucky it's a fad now aye.

 

Record bowls are so simple to make. Pop them into a warm oven over the top of a oven proof bowl (or whatever you have) for a couple of minutes (like 8  or so)

Pull it out and either with oven mitts (or nothing if your hands are like mine) mold it into the bowl or into shape that you want it to be. The vinyl is super pliable and if it doesn't quite go as planned you just get it all hot again.

The fumes from the vinyl isn't exactly good for you so some ventilation is good. I haven't ever had any problems but it's better to be safer than sorry...

 

We use our bowls for holding keys and money. Little bits and pieces. They would be good for wrapped lollies or that kind of thing. You just have to remember that 1; they have a small hole in them and 2; they aren't exactly the easiest thing to clean/wash.

Fluffy the Owl
This owl is so soft and fluffy, hence her name. She was a bit fluffly to make with lots of sneezes. The love she gets makes it all worth it. She's quite tall. Around 40cms. Fleece eyes and her under wing matches her heart, awwww.

Dresses for little girls

 

I love dresses. I love that my 2 daughters love dresses. I love that I have 2 girls. I also have always loved dolls.....haha. Understand what I'm saying.

Here's a few of the dresses I have taken photos of

This dress I made solely to sell. It's made of a woollen kind of material. It can be used as a tunic as well as fitting as a dress. So so versatile and a pattern I love on girls 

 

I made this for a nieces 4th birthday. Simple A-line skirt with felt hearts and matching headband.

 

This dress was for my littlest girls 2nd birthday. It's made from a stretch cord so it's super comfy and a bit excessively cute!

 

This tunic was made from a very out of date maternity dress, it has so far lasted for both my daughters, first as a dress then as a tunic. The skull is felt and the bow gives it a super cute girly touch doesn't it.

 

Studded skirt for my little rebel. Easy to wear elasticated waist and the super stand out bright red looks awesome with the brown houndstooth checkers

Kiddy hat.

 

I very very rarely follow a store brought pattern when I make anything, I prefer to make my own. This often means I make a few mistakes with the first attempts....Not to many with this hat though! First ever try at sewing a hat. It worked out pretty perfect. Now how do you get a 2year old to keep her hat on....

 



Super simple bag
Made this for my mother dear for Christmas. It does need to be ironed but I was in a huge rush....

Bibs
So easy to make, easy to sell, every kid needs at least 3 (haha at least)
I like to make them with a waterproof backing(super good for dribbly teething bubs), same as used in modern cloth nappies and a metal snap dome on the back. I think I may start doing 2 of these domes so they can fit a range of neck sizes

 

These were all custom orders hence why they are ALL girly as. I am in the process of making boys ones, skulls, bugs and such. I'll get back to them some day

 

Skele-dude

My wee skele-dude I made a little wee while ago. Made from felt, fleece and a little bit of a old t-shirt.

 

His bones are all hand sewn on, maybe not as 'even' as everyone likes BUT I'm not that kind of person. I liked the uneven finishes sometimes.

 

He gets picked up at markets all the time but no one has yet brought him! I guess there's only a small age gap that would like him...

I'm sure he'll find a new home soon!

 

 

Dolls!!!

 

What can I say, I LOVE making dolls. Finishing-not so much....

These two dollys are the only 2 I have photos of. I wasn't ever very on to it with taking photos of my crafts, it's only just a new thing I've started. I have made several but be flipped if I know where they're hiding, opps.

I made my first doll about 4years ago. She was cool, with felt & button eyes, different textured wool/yarn for hair and a simple dress.

Since then I have been painting/drawing eyes and have never found yarn at the right price to buy for the hair.....But they turn out alright I think.

I'm now experimenting with different approaches to hair and clothes. I'll have a couple completed ones very soon

 

 

 

 

 

 

This doll won me 1st prize at the Westport A&P show, 2014. Competition was very impressive though

This doll is a work in progress. Several things wrong with her, mainly her face needs work....Maybe a cooler dress

I thought I'd start a blog, see if people want to see what I've been up to and such. I guess it will be of whatever I'm up to or feeling. Mainly photography and crafts.
